Documentation and Information Sharing

Kapaeeng Foundation has been conducting systematic documentation for making database on violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms of indigenous peoples and their issues. All related data and information were collected through media monitoring, information gathering and fact-finding inquiries. In this process Kapaeeng Foundation used its countrywide network.

Kapaeeng Foundation has been monitoring human rights situation and conducting intensive electronic-campaign on this issue for protection and promotion of the human rights of indigenous peoples in Bangladesh.

The internet lobby and campaign were conducted regularly through email circulation regarding human rights situations of indigenous peoples of Bangladesh. The advocacy for human rights of indigenous peoples was also executed on a regular basis. Kapaeeng Foundation has been disseminating information on indigenous peoples’ issues through internet as part of lobby and campaign, keeping the stakeholders updated on the situations of indigenous peoples.

Internet Lobby and campaign

Kapaeeng Foundation always wants to keep people updated by providing fresh information on indigenous peoples related issues. Hence, Kapaeeng Foundation has been disseminating information on indigenous people through internet regularly as a part of the lobby and campaign. this internet campaign keeps stakeholders updated on current state of indigenous peoples’ situations.

Monitoring of Media News

Kapaeeng Foundation has been monitoring national and local newspapers and electronic media on human rights situation of indigenous peoples in Bangladesh. 8 Newspapers are kept at BARC for this purpose. Upon publication of reports on newspapers or electronic media, Kapaeeng foundation frequently conducts fact-finding, collected relevant documentation, and interviewed victims, witness and local authorities for detailed and accurate information.

KF published three posters focusing three different issues of indigenous peoples of Bangladesh in 2010. Through those initiatives KF wanted to bring the issues publicly and raise mass awareness. The subject of three posters published with the support of Oxfam-GB were as follows-

Poster 3 – International Human Rights Day

Two human rights reports titled “Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Report in Bangladesh 2007-2008” and “Human Rights Report 2009-2010 on Indigenous Peoples in Bangladesh” were published with the support of Oxfam-GB.

Besides two info-posters on Free, Prior and Informed Consent of the UNDRIP and Biodiversity of Indigenous Peoples and UNDRIP were published in Bangla jointly with AIPP.
